Jeremy and Joy in Barcelona

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Well, we made it Barcelona by the skin of our teeth.  It took three transfers after we missed our connecting flight in Coppenhagen (including a nice jog through the airport).

We spent the first evening making it to Sitges via an over-priced taxi cab.  The hotel/apartment was pretty nice - located right on the beach next to the boardwalk.  It was so nice it almost convinced us against going to Barcelona.   But we met Joel there and got hear all about host family and the life of a traveling student.

Tomorrow we meet Julee and the her boyfriend Jim in Malaga!

The Huttons Hit Spain

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

So Joy and I will be heading out shortly to Spain to visit Joel!  Woo hoo! I can not wait.  He’s sent out a few emails regarding some possible liver problems ;) - but he’ll just have to fend for himself until we get there.  The funny thing is he’s staying in Cadiz - our first Semester at Sea stop back in ’02.  Who would’ve thought we’d get a chance to head back over there for a second round!   I can’t wait to check out the city, in some ways it feels like yesterday.

We’ll be travelling around, checking out Sevilla, Granada, Barcelona, and Madrid to name a few.  I’ll keep you all posted on the details.

Will Travel for Analytics

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Well, it’s been a busy two weeks. Joy and I went down to San Jose, California and checked out the Googleplex for a 3-day GAAC get together. I got to meet fellow Google Analytics folk and talk about some of the new features and drool a little bit more over Website Optimizer - oooh A/B Testing. Great to finally meet a few other people out there who use the tool and bounce a few ideas around.

Then, flew over to DC for eMetrics 2007 where I got more than my fair share of web analytics info sessions. I got to hear the one-and-only Avinash Kaushik speak and, yeah, I’d say he’s just about everything he’s cracked up to be. I also got to hear Jim Novo speak about behavioral targeting which was all the rage this year - seemed like every other speaker was talking more about it. If you haven’t heard, demographics are out, personas are in. I’m hoping to have a blog post about this soon - hopefully at Pop but we’ll see how fast those boys can get a blog up …. no, really.

eMetrics 2007 - Washington DC

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

I’m in Washington DC this next week getting my marketing fix at eMetrics.  Traveling with Pop is definitely something i can get used to.  Just last week I was over at Google getting some nice Google Analytics Authorized Consultant training.  But the real kicker for me was few sessions they did about Website Optimizer.

They are about to start the Web Analytics Association Base Camp so I gotta run!
